Places to Visit

For the Adults

There are a large number of National Trust properties in the area. Killerton and Knightshayes and Forde Abbey are probably the best known and are well worth the trip.

Hemyock has its own castle which opens to visitors on Bank Holidays during the summer.

Exeter is the historic county town of Devon, there is the Cathedral and the Quay as well as plenty of good quality shops.

Honiton is only 10 miles away, market days are Tuesday and Saturday otherwise the Antique and Curio shops are open most days.

For an out of town shopping experience try Clarkes Village near Glastonbury.

There are always plenty of gardens, large and small to visit in the area. All are listed in the National Garden Scheme 'Yellow Book'.

For the Children (and young at heart!)

Crealy Park is very popular with all children, ideal for letting off steam.

For Everybody

There are cinemas in Wellington and Taunton and a 10 Pin Bowling Alley in Taunton.

Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Quantocks are all worth visiting, for walking and riding and viewing the wonderful scenery. But don't forget the many pretty villages and market towns that dot the moors these are well worth further investigation.

The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Helegan are extremely popular and rightly so. A must for a slight longer day out if you haven't visited these places yet.

The coastline both north and south is well within reach of Sunnybank for a good day out.  Surfing is popular all year, otherwise why not just sun yourself on one of the many beautiful sandy beaches.  The Jurassic Coast around Lyme Regis, a world Heritage site, is also a must for a visit.
